For The Sunday Picture Post, we are going to flip upside-down the saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Thousands of words are great if you are writing a novel, but if you are writing a screenplay, you need to do the opposite and be as concise as possible.

Each Sunday I will post a picture. For your screenwriting practice in brevity, in the comments section, please post one or all of the following:

  • A title for this movie
  • 1 word describing the theme, mood, or scene
  • 1 sentence to describe the scene
  • A pitch to sell the entire movie

The more colorful and creative you are, the better! Use any genre.

A good screenwriter is laconic, using a few words to say a lot.

    Bang! Bang!

    Dark and Sexy

A storyboard picture displaying the scene where two mobsters, Johnny and Paul, meet their new recruit, Ryan, at a private strip club. Johnny shoves a big pile of cash on the table in front of Ryan as they watch the girls dance.

“Bang! Bang!” is a dark and sexy mob movie that takes you into the underground drug world of Los Angeles. Johnny and Paul have recently broke off from their family’s MAFIA ties and have decided to go on their own. As they hurry to recruit some rookies to their new business, they not only have to protect themselves from their family members and the king pins in Italy, but also fight off the thugs that are slowly gaining their territory.

    Haaa! Too funny Sizzle!

Hmm. I don’t know which way to go with this.

Title: Mr Bunny is no Longer Marshmellow

Mr Bunny is tortured by the Mr Chick community (and fellow bunnies) for daring to think strange new thoughts that might liberate the marshmellow kingdom.

    Or,

    Title: The Mellow Mania

Mr Bunny finds himself on a stick and will soon be in the fire. The other Marshmellows (chicks) were taking bets on who was going to get it.

Someone should design marshmellow pigs. hehe

I’m thinking about “Peep Show” as a title, an all peep version of “Pretty Woman” with strippers instead of streetwalkers.

We hire a candy company to make the marshmallow pigs to play the villain (s)?

    “Bad Candy”

    Hot-n-Fluffy

Rodney (center chick) is out with the fellas on his usual guys night out and is seconds away from discovering what his wife, Rita (pole bunny), has been doing to getting all the extra money all while “Lookin for Some Hot Stuff” is blaring on the club speakers.

A comedy married couple with secrets discovers their spouses private lives one night at a strip club, which unravels a tale (tail?) leading all the way back to a shady deparment in the company that the husband works for, and the wife is trying to pay off.

Thank you all for some great laughs today — these are excellent!

    T. S. Maybe you could get Harvey Keitel to do the voice of Rodney! :-)

I didn’t want to play on the mafia mob thing since Sizzle already did, but I always imagine strip clubs being a front for some organized crime boss. But the other thing I couldn’t help thinking about was Resevoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction/Be Cool… Couldn’t tell you why those movies in particular, but Harvey is a good choice… and why not make Uma play Rita?

I actually like your title too… The Peep Show works so very well that it hurts. I don’t even think marshmallows are in the candy family. I was working on a play of “Bad Company” and “candy” fits so much better than “marshmallow”

Yeah, I keep laughing at everyone’s titles and descriptions.

I also love how the photo has this 1970s color feel to it. Who ever thought marshmallows could get so sleazy? Actually, when I say it like that… A few things come to mind.

Here is how my key word search for an image went until I found this picture:
    “tears” — boring images
    “weird” — boring images
    “campfire” — boring images
“marshmallow” — slutty dancing candy bunnies and dirty sugar-coated man chicks, now we are talking; the ironic innocence of it all…

I had no idea it would get such great movie ideas, but I just had to post it for its creativity.

    Cheers to you all!

T.S. is right — marshmallow are a confection, technically speaking, not a candy!

    Another fun word…

  12. Jed on September 6th, 2008 2:33 am

A title for this movie : Give it to me one more time

1 word describing the theme, mood, or scene : honeylicious

1 sentence to describe the scene With the Britney Spears song on the background… A scene reminsicent of the upcoming Choke movie where one of the chicks asked one of the bunny something about ‘its’ body

A pitch to sell the entire movie: The sexiest movie ever made by Hollywood and beyond.

    This is hilarious!
