Sunday Picture Post 15 / Fruit Loops

For The Sunday Picture Post, we are going to flip upside-down the saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Thousands of words are great if you are writing a novel, but if you are writing a screenplay, you need to do the opposite and be as concise as possible.
Each Sunday I will post a picture. For your screenwriting practice in brevity, in the comments section, please post one or all of the following:
- A title for this movie
- 1 word describing the theme, mood, or scene
- 1 sentence to describe the scene
- A pitch to sell the entire movie
The more colorful and creative you are, the better! Use any genre.
A good screenwriter is laconic, using a few words to say a lot.
SCREENWRITING TIP OF THE DAY: FRUIT LOOPS
Think about Fruit Loops for a while and go write something original.

Got something to say?

“Harold and Kumar Go To Fruitland”
After reading the message on the wall, Kumar attempts to wash his hands with Fruit Loops.
Smelling some weed, Harold and Kumar follow their noses to a place deep in the forest, but to their surprise, they find themselves in a closed village with a bunch of fruits. Fruitland is a village filled with apples, oranges, bananas and kiwis. What Harold and Kumar don’t realize is that they’re hallucinating and the pineapple they fall in love with is actually their real-life bully from high school. Harold and Kumar must quickly find an escape route and fly to Amsterdam in order to Harold fantasy crush for a second time.
“Harold and Kumar Go To Fruitland” features the return appearances of John Cho and Kal Penn. Others starring in the film include Seann William Scott and Jessica Alba.
“Harold and Kumar Go To Fruitland” will be produced and distributed by Vegetable Entertainment Company and will be releasing worldwide on Fri Feb 13th, 2009.
SizzlyP — Laughing here. There we go!
LOL…I am too! You never know what will come out of my mind!
After a week off from reading Screenwriting for Dummies, I’m back into the book this week. I think I’m 1/3 of the way. I usually read it during my lunch hour. Eat for 15-30 mins and read for 30-45 mins. I want to finish this book so that I can start writing out my screenplay. I have notes jotted down and the idea is still in my head. Every time I listen to P.O.D.’s Youth Of A Nation, it just fuels the idea even more. I would like to use the song in the film.
SizzlyP — I too am always inspired by music. Not sure the dummies book will tell you… As a general rule, you are not supposed to put specific songs into your screenplay because of rights reasons. You can put, “A song like Da-da-dat and Ding-ding-dong.” Or you can put “A sad country song plays on the juke box.” Stuff like that — general. When you sell the script and if you get a chance to talk to the director, you could say, “This POD song inspired me, I think it’s perfect if you like it too and can get the rights to it.”
Oh my god, Sizzle. That was a good one. This has to be one of the toughest Sunday Picture Posts Jaden has laid on us. Are Mrs and Mr Reel Ninja up to the challenge? I would say so (just give us a couple of days) :)
