Who Wants To Be a Pro Blogger Anyway?

Many sites are dedicated to instructing people how to be a professional blogger or screenwriter, filling cubicle workers with dreams of four-hour work days, no bosses, and mailmen cramming money into the door slot. Ha! If only it was so easy!

From the better sites, I have learned good tips to improve my site and broaden my public appeal.

Eventually, the brain flat lines after reading so much advice.

Being too calculated can kill your je ne sais quoi. Spontaneity and taking risks make for exciting reading.

There are a few sites with a constant flow of entertaining and fresh material who don’t seem to give a crap about the professional blogger standards or marketing schemes.

Drum roll please…

In the blogging spirit of yore, these bloggers write whatever the heck they want, they have no flashy advertisements, no slick expensive programming, and they keep my belly trim with laughter.

Thank you for brightening my days with your wicked wit. True talent needs no costume for the role.

When it comes to writing screenplays or blogs, writers ought not get so caught up in trying to look like the perfect blogger or come up with the next blockbuster script that they lose their unique identity and voice.

Conformity is the death of creativity!

Unleash yourself and chase your tales. Don’t lose yourself in the hunt for perfection.

    Jaden!

Wow…thanks for the link love! I’m flattered!

I’m gonna have to check out those other two sites too. (It’s difficult to find good, funny blogs these days).

I feel the same way about blogs telling you how to write blogs. Nothing wrong with that..those writers mean well and they have good advice.

No disrespect intended, but I’ve stopped reading a lot of these sites. You can only take in so much, like you said, before your brain self-implodes.

There are only so many hours in a day (especially if one has a day-job). I’d rather spend my precious free time getting my ideas out there…rather than reading about how I can be the best blogger I can.

Seems to be working so far. I’ve having a lot of fun, and a few people are actually reading my stuff…:-)

Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you like our madness :)

    Jaden,

As you know I read the Deep Fried. I’ll check out these other bloggers, too. I like authenticity, and am always on the lookout for fresh writing that inspires me and keeps me.

I think I’ll settle for pro Ellen.

Boy I couldn’t agree more. In the beginning I read them until my eyes glazed over and then I thought…boring…I got it already…isn’t there anything else to talk about? Then out I went to find amazing friends who actually had interesting and thoughtful things to say. I’ve never looked back.

Jaden, I wholeheartedly agree with your observation. I just this week finally reached “overflowing” on the advice meter. As you noted, there are sites that have provided valuable information but so much of it is all the same and targeted to bloggers. Don’t we want other people to read our content? I do! I love The Deep Friar and am cheering his inclusion on your esteemed list. Can’t wait to check out the others. Thanks for the encouragement to march to the beat of your own drum. :-)

Wendi & Karen — Yeah, I have learned a lot and am thankful, but I think people lose sight of why they blog. Chasing money, clicks, and whatever Mr.Jones is doing can lead to failure because the heart, honesty, humor, and content are absent. Right now, there is just so much online, what will make us as individuals unique? That is important. What can we offer that is not already out there? What can we do to improve our readers lives?

Just back from vacation and read this post…

First off, thanks for your kind words and for the plug! You know, of course, that I adore YOU and your blog to pieces. (Figuratively speaking. Literally you and your blog perfectly safe.)

Secondly, I agree with every syllable. The whole “Make lots o’ money, attract lots o’ readers” spiel has never interested me. I enjoy reading blogs by passionate people. They’re interesting and often informative. I try to write mine the same way.

Thirdly, that is the perfect picture for this post. You rock!

RJ, RN, and Friar — You are welcome. You deserve recognition. You inspire me and keep the fire lit.

Pro Ellen — Works for me! You have a bold approach I like as well.

    Jaden, you crack me up.

As I mentioned previously, I can barely get online these days, what with our wee one demanding all but every waking moment of my attention, sans a shower or bathroom break here and there. But since Reel Ninja turned me on to your site, I make an effort to pop in atleast a few times a week to see what you’ve got brewing… classic stuff. I love that you “say what you think”… it’s so much more valuable than catering to the masses.

Here’s your official ‘pat on the back’ for the day. Great job.

I’m going to jump on my latest obsession, Wii Fit…. as my mom has graciously dropped in to spend time with the wee one… I feel alive!! I am the Reel Ninja’s Wife again for atleast the next 30 mins, then it’s back to Mommy.

Take care and thanks for the adoration lol – damn fans, gotta beat them off with a stick.

RNW — Laughing. Yeah, I gotta beat my fans off with a 9 iron, I know the feeling. Sometimes I wonder what the F I am doing here? Figure I gotta finish what I started. Keep the not-so-poetry in motion. You two kids are fun. Always a pleasure having you peg me with your water balloons of wit.

Got something to say?
