Got something to say?

I have yet to see Slumdog. Is it worth all this hype its getting?
Shane – It’s worth it! I’ve seen it once and I want to see it again!
I’m glad to see SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is receiving the recognition it deserves! I was also happy to see Mickey Rourke solidify is comeback with a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama! He did an outstanding job! I wasn’t surprise to see Bruce Springsteen win the Best Original Song – Motion Picture for his song, “The Wrestler”. It’s a powerful song that sums up the movie.
I haven’t seen The Wrestler yet, but I’m also glad Rourke got this award. I also haven’t seen Slumdog Millionaire but I really want to and I’m glad it’s getting some major recognition. Honestly, for me, this movie came out of nowhere. But I just found out a couple theaters it’s playing in, so maybe I might get to see it this weekend.

I have yet to see Slumdog, but will probably see it this weekend. I went to see it a couple weeks ago, but took a right turn instead of a left turn at the designated street by Google Maps and ended up at the wrong theatre and just settled for Gran Torino. I will never doubt Google Maps again.
Anyway, yes, every single person I know has liked Slumdog as the best film of 2008. No one I know has said anything negative about it.
Oh dear, I don’t know half of these movies – I must catch up soon!
Thank you for your comment on my blog. I understand your concern. Please rest assured that I am a very experienced and responsible cat owner and this is the one and only time Sammy my cat ever jumped into the dryer (AFTER the clothes had been dried – i was about to take them out of the dryer). This was so unusual, therefore I took the picture. I’m sorry if the picture upset you and reminded you of what happened to your sister’s cat. My apologies…
Sincerely,
Duni
Jaden, I’m way too antsy to sit through awards show but I so enjoy reading about them after it’s over. Thanks for the list of winners because I had not seen this yet! I haven’t seen Slumdog Millionaire but sounds like I should. Thanks for bringing me the buzz. ;-)
None of the best picture nominees are playing in my area. How sad. I’ve gotta go an hour away!
I’ll probably go see Revolutionary Road or the Wrestler, though; I just can’t pull myself to be interested in Slumdog.
How awesome is it that Colin won for In Bruges!
i didn’t think Mickey Rourke would ever show up in public again, then there he was, winning big at the Golden Globes
Duni — No need to apologize at all…. I was just concerned about the safety of your cat.
Karen — ‘Tis my pleasure to please.
Shane — Could be worse, one of my brothers is several hours away from a movie theater.
Coffee — The Wrestler is soooo good!!! Love Mickey for doing it.
Slumdog is not worth the hype. It’s a lot like Juno in the sense that it has all this tremendous praise from a shipload of sources and when you watch it you’re left scratching your head, wondering why every person on this planet is so in love with it. We can go into a deeper discussion about it after everyone on here has seen it, as there are a lot of things I carry quite a bit of disdain over.
The Wrestler is so much better. Between Mickey’s acting and Darren’s directing, this thing is the movie of the year.
What’s the word on Rev. Road?
Shane — Yes, everyone I know loved Juno too and I thought it was ok, enjoyed the opening sequence, but it was a by-the-book screenplay with characters that mostly had the same voice, not adventurous or groundbreaking script, but successful at pleasing the masses, which is about what that Oscar award mostly seems to be.
You have to admit though that watching a movie after EVERYONE has praised it and it has won the highest award, it makes it hard to live up, no? That’s what I find. Like Pulp Fiction — I would have probably loved it if no one ever talked about it, but after hearing everyone on the face of the planet go on and on about how great it was, I felt let down when I finally saw it. Happens to all of us, I think.
That’s why I like to see movies that I know zero about — I can appreciate them way more. In Bruges was like that for me. Never heard of it when I saw it, therefore, it exceeded my expectations of another mediocre movie.
When I get a minute, I have to write a post about a few films about which we are not hearing much, if anything.
BTW, happy belated 1 year anniversary of Screenwriting for Hollywood! I remember the first time I commented on a post. It was on your inaugural Sunday Picture Post with the picture of the various cows.
SizzlyP — Awaaah, thanks!
Guess that makes us Internet pals for one year as well. :-)
Jaden – I’m a bit late reading any comments anywhere… but I agree (and probably agreed before on a different post) about Juno, and how so-so it was compared to what everyone said. I mean, I thought it was good, just not great. I was really like JK Simmon’s character actually, that’s what did it for me.
Slumdog I still haven’t seen yet, but plan to very soon. The Wrestler as well. In Bruges I picked up randomly a few months ago having no idea what it was about and was pleasantly surprised by it. Then I was shocked to hear Colin win an award for it. I thought that was awesome. Anyway, I’m interested in that post about movies we aren’t hearing much about. I was going to do a similar “under rated” post at some point after I finish your special request this month.
Cool
