Q & A’s

Why isn’t my comment showing up?

The first time a person leaves a comment, it requires approval. Comments submitted with links or code tend to go automatically into spam. For legitimate comment submissions that do not show up online after 48 hours, please send an email to SFH and we can look for it in the spam folder. Vulgar or offensive comments may be edited or deleted, so choose your words intelligently and with kindness for others. We want to create a safe fun positive supportive environment at SFH.

Why haven’t you replied to my email?

There just isn’t enough time in each day, I am so sorry. I wish I could answer all your questions and help everyone, but I just don’t have the time. Most answers to your questions are available somewhere on this website, so keep looking. Use the SEARCH box feature in the upper right column.

How do I get an agent?

Click here for the official list of California guild signatory agents.

But first, read this article: Do I Need an Agent?

Will you be my agent and help sell my script?

No. I am a writer, not a literary agent, publicist, or marketing person.

Will you be my reference?

No.

Will you read my script and tell me what you think?

Not at this time. Do not send scripts to SFH; unsolicited material will be ignored.

What do you think about this idea…?

Do not send story ideas to SFH; unsolicited material will be ignored.

Can I tell you how freaking fantastic I am and how much you will regret it if you don’t help me?

No. Threats, rants, begging, irrational, or verbose emails will be ignored.

Will you link to my site?

Usually, no. I don’t want to muddle my site with too much information. You may leave comments and it will automatically link back to your website. Spam will be automatically removed.

Will you write a post about my film / movie?

Maybe. Contact me for my mailing address so you can mail me your DVD for review.

Will you interview our film’s screenwriter for your website?

Yes, time permitting. Please email me information about your film, a website link, a press release, and the screenwriter’s full name.

Will you write a post about my film festival?

Maybe. Email your official press release, a link to your website, and a couple photos. If you can provide a participating screenwriter (past or present) from your film festival who will interview via email with SFH, we will most likely cover your film festival.

Will you add my film festival to your top 10 list?

No. There are way too many film festivals. Please add your film festival information to the comments section of any related posts. Readers will see it there.

How do I attend a film festival?

Buy a ticket.

For more information, please browse the SFH website by using the internal SEARCH box in the upper right corner. If you absolutely cannot find what you are looking for, please write to SFH and propose that we write a post covering your topic of interest related to screenwriting.

Thank you.
