MelissaD -- Laughing and clapping here... (you know how I do). I'm so glad you saw it. The book is even better than the movie, and like you say, it should be required reading for teenage girls and boys.

I saw this and absolutely loved it, even though romantic comedies rank relatively low on my list of favorite genres. I agree with everything you've said, especially the part telling the guys to go where the ladies go. As I was sitting in the theater surrounded by oodles of single ladies, I kept thinking, "A really smart guy would come see this film to pick up chicks." Hehee.

As for the girls, this film should be required viewing in order to exit junior high and move on to high school. And if you're dating, ever dated, or are even remotely interested in anyone, then this movie will open your eyes.

SizzlyP -- Laughing... Wow, what a story!
Yeah, California had been oddly warm... then a little certain someone comes down from Canada, and all the sudden it's dumping buckets of rain and snow... go figure! ;-) Sorry you aren't getting the usual sunshine here with us, but it sounds like you are having an amazing trip from that one snippet. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the trip.

Shane -- Be careful: the better your writing, the worse your flirting! Ask any successful writer. It's something about baking a cake and eating it too.
p.s. I got 'Best Dressed'... And oh gosh, you should see the photo that went along with the honor -- you have to wonder what on earth was everyone else wearing for me to get 'best dressed'?! Eek.

t.sterling -- Awaaaah, that's cute!
Yes, this movie does hurt the first time you get clued into how many dates 'just were not into you.' Before I read the book, it never crossed my mind that someone could not be into me. Duh. Laughing. Such a dumb arse. I just thought people were flakes or mean.

KarenSwim -- I'd say this movie is more like heavy-hearted fun. ;-) As t.sterling noted how his friend felt a little hurt -- it does hurt, but in a good way, like when you learn the day after you are inaugurated as president that you have been pronouncing the word nuclear wrong all your life.... and now the whole world knows it -- that kind of hurt.

Jaden, thanks for this review. I have no problem going to the movies alone and was on the fence about this one. I like Jennifer Aniston but none of her movies ever hit the mark for me. I didn't read the book but the movie seemed like it would be lighthearted fun.

I haven't seen this movie, yet I am interested, but I'm not sure I could go alone to the theaters for this, even though I've done it so many times before. I spent Valentine's with my best friend, and we called it Friendship Celebration Day and instead saw the movie "Push," went to the mall, and went out for pizza. Friend stuff. The next day she saw the movie with her mom and said she enjoyed it even if it hurt a little.

This film reminds me of the nights I spent, in high school, watching and memorizing lines from Freddie Prinze Jr. movies. Sure, it's a hilarious notion now, but back then I WAS Senor Lothario. Voted "Biggest Flirt" and believed myself to have a freshman fanclub rivaling only the star quarterback's. Yep, those were the days; heavy petting and french kissing. Relationship? What's that?

Nowadays, I try to impress woman with a Woody Allen like stammer towards a complete compliment. A relationship is impossible with that kind of come-on. Getting older never helps either. At the ripe age of 25, I now get to enjoy the self imposed solidarity of being a "writer". Meaning, I don't know how to talk to people on the street. I heard about this new thing... "small talk" but it's really not working out for me.

I need to get out more!

I saw this a few weeks ago at a press screening and liked it! I had a good Valentine's Day solo. Went to the Oilers vs. Kings game. On the way to the game, I met one of the Oilers players, Shawn Horcoff, and talked to him a bit. He later scored a goal in the game, got in a fight and then got a puck in the face. Oilers won in a shootout. After the game, I took the Pico bus all the way out to Santa Monica Pier. I had a hard time finding a bus back to Hollywood, but eventually I found one when I walked through 3rd Street Promenade.

Did you end up going skiing? I heard you guys got a lot of rain today. Suppose to be 1-3 inches of rain here tomorrow (possibly 5 inches with flash flooding) and I'm suppose to be outside on a studio tour at Universal Studios....hopefully it won't be too bad!
